Chehalis Basin Fisheries Task Force

Welcome to the Chehalis Basin Fisheries Task Force! Our organization is proudly governed by a committed Board of Directors made up of twenty volunteers who are passionate about fisheries. This diverse group represents a wide array of interests, including commercial and sport fishing enterprises, tribal entities, government agencies, and both private and public organizations, as well as engaged community members. Together, we work collaboratively to oversee the operations of the Task Force, set strategic direction and policies, evaluate various projects for funding opportunities, and actively seek future funding sources to support our initiatives.
In addition to our Board, we have established three active committees that focus on crucial areas such as administration and finance, project evaluations, education and public outreach. Our core staff includes a dedicated hatchery manager, a contracted project coordinator, and an administrative director, all of whom play essential roles in our mission.
The Chehalis Basin Fisheries Task Force strongly believes in the power of community involvement. By enabling numerous volunteers to engage in meaningful projects throughout the Chehalis River Basin area, we aim to make a significant and positive impact on our fisheries resources. We invite you to join us in our collective efforts to and restore the magnificent fisheries of the Chehalis River!

Our Present Operations
While the Task Force functions in a variety of capacities, its main focus involves acting as a funding agency, coordinating technical resources, and providing public education.

Funding Agency
The Task Force grants funding to projects that assist in the accomplishment of Task Force enhancement goals and promote its mission. Projects in search of funding may request a funding application and a copy of the Task Force project evaluation criteria. Applications are accepted prior to January 1st of each year. Project funding is allocated on a cash reimbursement basis from January 1st through December 31st each year.

Technical Resource
Another function provided by the Task Force is that of technical assistance. Project participants can receive support in coordinating with government agencies, facility design, permit acquisition, stock selection, coordinated facility operation equipment, and volunteer management, among other resources.

Public Education
Through public forums, group presentations and other educational efforts, the Task Force is working to educate and inform the Chehalis Basin community of the need for fisheries enhancement and the role individuals can play. The Task Force is striving to create an educated community, which accepts personal ownership and responsibility for the river and its resources.
